WHAT IS BMX?

The sport of bicycle motorcross began in the early 1970’s. A handful of riders started riding their stingray type bikes off road in vacant lots and fields; not much competition but a lot of fun.

Today the sport of bicycle motorcross is sweeping the country and the world. BMX is an exciting sport that everyone can get involved in, be it as a racer, recreationally or as a spectator.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

  • Obviously, a well maintained BMX bike is essential! – Check of the frame, fork and wheels to be sure that nothing is cracked, bent or broken.
  • You MUST remove any stunt / axle pegs
  • Handlebars MUST have grips that cover the metal on the end.

Full safety gear is advised when using the BMX track at all times.

  • You should always wear helmets with full-face protection and chin strap (always think about protecting your head)
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Long trousers
  • Suitable footwear

Make sure that your brakes are in good condition. – Foot brakes (coaster breaks) don’t work well on the BMX track!

REMEMBER – YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED  STUNT / AXLE PEGS ON BIKES

You MUST NOT use scooters or skateboards on the BMX track
You MUST NOT use any type of powered motor vehicle on the track

Please help us to keep the track in good condition by reporting any defects and clearing rubbish / debris of the track.
